So I bought a 2 gig micro card and an adapter.Put the card into my laptops card reader and loaded my John Mayer live cd on it. Stuck it in the phone and headed to the airport to start my snowmobile vacation.

Fired up the phone, hit the my music button, then play all only to have the phone tell  me My Music contains no songs to play.

What did I do wrong? Can I only play music bought from Vcast? I've bought my favorite 3 times now (records, cassettes, cds) No more, I just want to play the music I own.

I don't want to spend more money on a usb cord and try to synch from the laptop. It seems I should be able to put music on the sd card and play it from there.

Has anyone out there done what I want to do?

Thanks

Did you format the card?

Put the card into the phone, then format it.

To format the card: Menu > Settings > Memory > Card Memory > Options > Format

Take the card out of your phone and insert the card to the computer then you should see some folders, the one that says MY_MUSIC is the folder where you put all the MP3 in.
Once you've loaded your card, take it out and back into the phone.

You will need to use the music player that your phone comes with. I'm not sure what the Verizon one is called, but If you have Telus then its called TELUS mobile music.

Well, it didn't work. The phone still says there are no songs in My Music.

I went through the phone's menu and couldn't find anything to solve the problem.

There has got to be something I'm doing wrong.

Any help would be appreciated.

well you cant put folders in there. you have to put each individual song in the my_music folder on the card. hope that helps...
