I bought a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter on EBay and tried using my phone as an MP3 player.  I only got sound through my right speakers.  I bought another adapter locally and got the same result.  I tried another source (different MP3 player) and it played ion stereo.  Is there something I have to do to get the MP3 function of the phone to play in stereo?

BTW when I use the phone's speakers it does play in stereo.

Sounds like the plug, or the adapter is broken.
